October 8, 2022 - Absolutely fabulous. Pnp, perfectly integrated and underscores the benefit of waiting for Saxum to mature. It was amazingly smooth and improved over the next 90 minutes. Blackberry, dark cherry, licorice, pepper. Glad this wasn't my final bottle.

June 26, 2022 - Last tasted almost three years ago. I think it has started its decline. Still ruby-garnet, only slightly translucent, but slight amber at the edge. Moderately pronounced aroma of a mixture of red and black fruits. Medium body on the palate, still has nice flavors, but less intensity than before, a bit flatter. There's some bitterness in the late palate and aftertaste, and heat from the alcohol is a bit too pronounced at the end. Glad it's our last bottle but we'll enjoy the younger ones.

July 24, 2021 - Loved it. Opened up beautifully after about two hours in the decanter.

March 6, 2021 - RustyRudy and several other recent notes all rang true. I was worried this wine might be on the downslope but it was fresh, cork was perfect, and the bottle drank beautifully. Great blend of GSM and one of my older Saxums that I have had. Loved it and would highly recommend drinking them now to anyone that has some in the cellar.

July 10, 2020 - Consistent notes. Even better pop and pour than a long decant. All black pepper up front with dark blueberry and blackberry. Fleshy Grenache and less earthy tonight. Just smitten. One of the best wineries on the planet, bar none IMO.

July 4, 2020 - Took some time to fire on all cylinders. More muted palate compared to the 2016 Downstream (obviously). Nose is very Saxum house style. Soften tannin, more age and fleshy Grenache transitions into that dark blueberry/black raspberry I love in Saxum. Elegant. Touch of citrus/grapefruit? Licorice. Light bacon/meaty

July 2, 2020 - It was the oldest Saxum Heartstone in my cellar. Mature, balanced, complex and hitting on all cylinders. Lovely wine.

June 2, 2020 - Not sure why the drinking window ends in '19 as this wine is ripe and fresh. Not much of a nose, but full-bodied, bold zesty dark fruit, quite enjoyable. In a quandry what to do about the '07s in the cellar as I'm not sure I can derive $80-100 of pleasure from each glass. Much less whoever else mooches....

March 23, 2020 - Solid wine that was a bit past its apogee. A huge wall of red, blue and black fruit hits up front, this wine is far from shy. There is a nice mineral backbone to it, although that faded after being open for an hour and gave way to the very sweet berries encountered up front. I love Saxum but after my last couple experiences I'll make sure that I drink these up no later than 8 years after they're bottled.
