July 30, 2016 - It's good but this bottle is one if the weaker examples of '95 Comtes I have had in that it is slightly fruit deficient so the citric spine stands out more than it should. Lots of active mousse which dies quickly in the glass. Still, the elegance and refreshing qualities of Comte save it from mediocrity and it's a pleasant drink.

June 16, 2016 - 3rd bottle from my case. Unfortunately, this one was somewhat musty. At first, I thought it was corked but the musty/mouldy aroma never went on to strip the palate so we concluded it was just a less than pristine bottle.

April 22, 2016 - Comtes de Champagne-middag med Jan Netterberg (Ett hem): Yellow colour with a maturing nose showing some reductive notes of plums and with distinctive and rich palate showing some oxidation. Nice long lemon finish. Drinking very nicely right now.

(Taittinger Champagne Brut Blanc de Blancs Comtes de Champagne) Light yellow color with relatively few bubbles; very tart citrus, grapefruit rind, tart lemon, light coffee nose; tasty, poised, fresh, tart apple, light coffee, tart pear palate; medium-plus finish

(Taittinger Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blancs) This wine shows a honeyed-golden hue in the glass now, and still a moderately-sized bead, less lively than three years ago perhaps, with more of a central core of bubbles than anything more dramatic, but there is still a slightly fat and lazy character to it. On the nose there is some rich development, with some golden crystalline fruits alongside notes of mushroom, toast and minerals. This now seems harmonious, rich and yet well framed. Lovely character in the mouth, all broad richness still with a lemony edge to it, but showing early evolution in terms of little notes of cashew nut and a little more mushroom too. And this is offset by great acidity and a fine, prickling but very persistent and pervasive mousse. Deliciously bright and still full of potential, with a sappy fading finish. This is brilliant and there is no rush to drink up - I anticipate further evolution and improvement over at least 5-10 years yet.

(Taittinger Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blancs) A suitable bottle for New Year's Eve. A very lively bead in the glass, still rather fat despite this wine's twelve years. The nose has a precise and bright citrussy, lemon freshness, but with a very serious deep seam of smoke and minerals, the combination of the two seeming paradoxical and yet divine in their combination. Later, there are notes of home-made praline, the delicious aroma of roasted almonds and crunchy sweetness that comes when you make your own. There is depth, vinosity and precision here. A lively mousse on the palate, covering a dense minerality, overall a very vinous style; this is a top quality wine which happens to have bubbles, if you understand my meaning. Very fresh, with lots of bright but appropriate acidity, and a mouthwatering midpalate. More integrated than my last tasting, but it is still very fresh and vibrant. Great for drinking now, certainly showing improvement, but still on the way up.

(Taittinger Champagne Brut Blanc de Blancs Comtes de Champagne) Big, lifted stone fruit nose; great, full of tart, high acid fruit; long delicious finish

(Taittinger Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blancs) A fine, mid-golden hue, and although there are initially some fat bubbles on the inside of the glass, the bead is really quite fine. A lovely nose, quite subtle, opening out over a few hours to reveal little notes of brioche and praline. Quite fine on entry, rounded and just a little creamy, developing a more full presence through the midpalate. Behind it there lies a delightful acid structure, present through to the finish, which is perhaps a little firm and rather curt. But this wine simply needs time, and behind the praline-laced citrus fruit shows only the barest trace of the complexity that will come with ageing this for another five years and more. Excellent.
