November 25, 2016 - Seems a bit faded. Drank next to a 1999 Beaucastel. I get a mild resemblance but big brother is still big brother.

November 20, 2016 - The best California wine I had so far. More fruit than a Chateauneuf, but in a good way. Pairing with lamb shoulder chops was memorable.

September 16, 2016 - Liked this more than a lot of other folk. It does not have as interesting a nose as a good Chateauneuf (that it is essentially fashioned off) but the palette was very pleasant. Fresh black berries and some earth notes and forest floor. Admittedly it costs a little more than a California Syrah, but you do get some of that rich Rhone flavor in return. This hing is that the light nose - almost Pinot light - is a bit disappointing. And in the end for $10 more you can buy the real thing, a decent CNDP.

September 10, 2016 - I am a Chateau Beaucastel snob and was extremely skeptical that a domestic "look-alike" could come close to my favorite CdP. This one did. Quite an impressive effort, aided, as I understand it, by the Beaucastel winemaker himself (or members of his staff). Went out and found another three bottles on the market and snapped them up.

August 26, 2016 - An elegant GSM blend that tastes too soft and shallow even after few hours of decanting. Could improve with more cellaring; for now, a poor value relative to other regions/varietals in the same price range.
