June 21, 2021 - Ripe, sweet and simple. Still drinking fine but not very interesting.

October 10, 2011 - Not sure when I drank this. That said, the 2001 vintage of this bottling is what captured my imagination and began my journey into wine. Either that was a spectacular year or my tastes have changed. Not as impressed as I was when I was younger. Either way, TY Penfolds for opening me up to the world of wine...[?% abv.; $7.50].

October 4, 2011 - Sweet ripe plums and tart red cherries with some black pepper and oak. Medium body and very soft & fruit forward. Paired reasonably well with a Scicilian pizza. Simple, tasty, and unremarkable.

September 9, 2011 - Dark ruby. Has a sweet nose of ripe dark plums, berry fruit, vanilla, chocolate, hints of mint and coffee. Medium-bodied, very soft and fruit-forward with good balance and a somewhat short aftertaste. Nice red for everyday drinking, preferably slightly chilled. Good qpr, but i would deffinitely spend the extra 4-5 Euros and go for the Koonunga Hill.

April 7, 2011 - Nice color, but has that varnish corporate look. Light fruity charred oaked nose. Light in the mouth, light bright red fruits, some more oak, bit of alch., nice lingering finish. Kinda has that Sour Cherry Cola thing going. For all the cheap grocery store wine nose, taste & finish, I likey. For a free wine in my Shangri La hotel room, very serviceable. Pre Pipeline call hooch!
