June 8, 2016 - Having had an epic tasting at Montille this afternoon, the ‘90 Les Pezerolles was the perfect choice for tonight's entree. This displayed a mature yet still fleshy nose of muddled ripe black cherry, floral undergrowth, hints of olive and moist fall leaves. On the palate, I found dried cherry, sweet herbs and inner floral tones with lifting acidity. The finish was long with a lingering note of dried red berries, minerals and a stimulating buzz of acidity.

September 18, 2014 - Plenty of fruit but in one sense Hubert de Montille to a T. Still very very young, and also with a stinky 1990 tannic overlay. Since this is a Hubert made wine, try again in say thirty years. Really. The only fully mature Huibert wine I've ever had was a 1969 (a much softer vintage) Volnay Taillepieds tasted in around 2005. That said, it was indeed excellent.

February 19, 2012 - Stunning nose: gorgeous fruit sprung out of the decanter as I poured this, and this continued in the glass with strawberry fruit, earth and complex secondary aromas, continuing in the mid-weight, gentle and soft mid-palate where everything is in balance. This is not the most powerful or the longest wine but it is absolutely lovely. The character is very Pommard, with an increasingly preponderance of mineral/earthy tones as it evolved. Which was not for very long.

March 23, 2010 - Tasted blind. Very stinky with VA on the nose. Big & tight on the palate with powerful alcohol & very drying tannins.

November 11, 2009 - A really tight cork. Wine is youthful in color, red fruit and mocha notes on the palate. Plenty of tannin. Old style Montille. Still miles away.

July 3, 2007 - (at The Modern – NYC) Wow. Ruby brick with just a bit of orange at the rim. The nose is captivating, containing elements of spice, mushroom and mature red fruits. I could smell this all night – one of the best bouquets in a long time. Medium bodied and intense on the palate – lovely combination of sweetness, verve, purity and intensity. Drinking beautifully tonight. Outstanding Burgundy – I could drink this often. (96)

September 14, 2005 - Complex expressive aromas. The mouth is a lot more elegant than you would expect from such aromas. Coffee, leek and chocolate. Very slick balance with integrated tannins that do need time to soften. Feels a lot younger than you would expect from a 15 year old wine. Needs time and actually should improve. Big finish. Tasty with a reasonable level of personality. Good stuff!
