November 5, 2015 - We had a serious adventure last night. We had read about and decided to visit a French “private kitchen” (Cafe F39) run by a Hong Kong Chinese couple who lived in France for 30 years and returned to their home village in the countryside. The third floor of their village house is dedicated to serving a small number (no more than 12) diners. Two days advanced booking and the Chef will prepare pretty much any French dish you want. Fine French food in the countryside of Hong Kong…does it get any better!?

A blend of 51% Sauvignon Blanc, 33% Semillon and 16% Sauvignon Gris. Light golden yellow on the eye is alluring. Aromas of tropical fruits, oak, vanilla and spice...and everything very nice. Round and toasty creamy vanilla in the mouth. Luscious, full-mouth, yet sophisticated, bombshell. Elegant and silky finish. A truly stunning wine!!!

We visited Chateau Pape Clement several years ago. An awesome Chateau, well-organised and pleasant tour and, well, top-shelf wines. If you are in the neighbourhood, you would do yourself a disservice not to pop in!

October 15, 2015 - A blend of 51% Sauvignon Blanc, 33% Semillon and 16% Sauvignon Gris. Light golden yellow on the eye is alluring. Aromas of tropical fruits, oak, vanilla and spice...very nice. Round and creamy in the mouth and full-bodied. Elegant and silky finish. Arguably, the reds often rue the day among our friends, the WOTN. Difficult QPR, but the Q definitely present!

May 17, 2014 - Sweet, rich, fat, juicy and packed with fresh, ripe, citrus, grapefruit, vanilla bean, stone and candied lemon peel, the wine is concentrated, vibrant and lively and a lot of pep and energy.

January 1, 2014 - a somewhat reticent nose of wet rocks, smoke, exotic fruits, wax, gooseberries, and stone fruits emerges from the glass; there is tremendous persistence and glycerin on the palate, with combination of minerally tension, a strong savoury, spicy element, and explosively juicy, honeyed fruit that make this a joy to drink despite its young age.

September 14, 2013 - Very nice bordeaux. Deep taste of apricot, oak barrel, herbs and citrus. Long aftertaste of sweet bitterness and oak. Still very young so needs decanting and will evolve much further.

(Château Pape Clément Blanc) Light lemon yellow color; appealing, light menthol, smoke, tart peach nose; tasty, rich but poised, lightly oily textured, ripe pear, tart peach mineral palate; medium-plus finish

(Chateau Pape-Clément Blanc (Pessac-Léognan)) A very attractive and slightly perfumed nose here, with a subtle musky hint which may well come from the Muscadelle included here. Served rather cool. On the palate it is quite rich and fleshy, seemingly bright and vibrant but much of this comes from the temperature. Once it warms in the mouth the acidity doesn't really reveal itself and the wine only has its pithy grip to fall back on. Having said that, it is rather an attractive pithiness, the substance of the wine holding an appealing bitterness as a result. And there is some acidity there on retasting. Could warrant a higher score if this holds together.
