April 28, 2024 - Popped and poured, byob at restaurant. IMO, this wine is just not ready. A lot of air might have helped, but I think 3-5 more years in the cellar would be better.

March 14, 2024 - Best bottle (Belsers Restaurant, Nürtingen): Glass: Sophienwald Bordeaux
Clear, deep garnet color. Fine, spicy Paulliac nose. On the palate surprisingly advanced. Fine fruit, spices, herbs, blood. Nice grip, medium length. This bottle was at its peak. 89-90

August 20, 2023 - 2 hour decant. Dark nose of black fruits, black olive, chicory, and shoe polish. Massive wall of extracted black fruit start the palate, then opens up with blackberry, black plum, dates, light black pepper, and dried thyme. Silty finish with coffee grounds, rustic blackberry fruit, graphite, granite, and stony soils with a long oak and vanilla bean note at the end.

November 19, 2022 - Wonderful wine, for me oak was not fully integrated yet and I’d love to try a bottle in 5-10 years. Benefitted from 1-2 hrs of air. Powerful yet elegant.

September 15, 2022 - Strong unrestrained taste of berries, with a style more evocative of California than Pauillac. We also tried the 2006 Clerc which had a similar style but not as strong as the 2010.

July 8, 2022 - Medium-bodied, and vibrant, this has entered the start of its prime-time drinking window. Now, you can enjoy the spicy edge you find on all the red fruits, flowers, tobacco, cedar, herbs, and mint leaves. Soft, silky, and refined, the finish focuses on its spice-tinged red berry cherry character. Allow the wine 1-2 hours in the decanter and it will offer up all its pleasures. Drink from 2022-2037.
