  March 6, 2024 - Level still into neck. Not decanted. Like the previous noted bottle in January 2023, this was also a deep garnet, only fading at the rim. Floral, archetypal Margaux nose, with a mix of geranium and lily ahead of nicely judged barrique. Palate shows vitality, structure and confidence. After an hour, it broods for a similar interval, before returning more complete and sweeter. Not as svelte as she was when the first glass was poured, but the added weight has now made her simply gorgeous as her lips continue to meet mine. It's not Mme. Palmer - d'Angludet is the housemaid - though it seems the servant-girl has lately discovered the little box of her lady's aphrodisiacs. What a lovely bottle. I'm a sucker when it comes to such femininity. Between fine and fine plus, with more loving kisses promised.

Noses similarly to the previous bottle just over a year ago, but more youthful and with a bit more oak. The palate confirms this is a less developed bottle, with grainier tannins and a greater volume of fruit. Length and sweetness are better too. Better than the last bottle and fine. If the others I have cellared are like this, then this will see thirty years.

  January 16, 2022 - It's been little over a year since my last note. Level into neck. The wine still possesses a substantial dark ruby core, with mid-ruby flanks fading to brick-red. Nice and delicately fruited Margaux nose with floral elements mixing with lighter-red berries. The oak is a little, little more obvious than previously, but it's been handled well. Medium body. While it is gently oaky, it's also graceful and soft. The fruit held up well for the duration. Though not needing a touch more sweetness, it was a wee bit short this time. Very good plus. Should go the projected distance.

  December 27, 2020 - More than eight years have passed since my last note. Level into neck. Tightly-fitted cork was very hard to remove, despite the bottle laying on it's side in it's original wooden case since purchased en-primeur. Nice to see that this still has a dark core, graduating to ruby, turning brick-red at the very periphery. Even before being decanted, I could detect strawberry and raspberry scents from the neck. When poured, lifted florals and restrained barrique followed and didn't lose focus for the four hours it took to drink the bottle. The palate has mellowed, certainly, with the tannins properly resolved, and the nicely judged oak allowed the wine's feminine character to shine. Proper Margaux delicacy, yet I found myself wanting a little more, just a wee bit more sweetness to the fruit. Still fine, though, and since this didn't at any stage suggest a weakening at the knees, it should at least see a quarter of a century.
