Community Tasting Notes 3

December 16, 2012 - What deal did Kühn have to make with the weather gods to get pinot noir to 15% alcohol in the Rheingau? It wasn't worth it, to my mind, given the porty, ultra-late-harvest notes that are paired, unfortunately, with stinky barrel smells. It's not bad, exactly, and my wife and I finished our glasses, but I just don't understand Spätburgunder's existence. Fair+.

November 19, 2012 - Very fruity and juicy with a nice funk resembling wild mushrooms and earthy notes. The alcohol came off to high and that ruined a bit for me

July 13, 2011 - Paso Robles meets the Rheingau! A dark dark 15% pinot with plenty of fruit and oak. Unexpected, but sort of fun. Well done for the style and in a good spot after 9 years. The alcohol is noticeable and the tannins haven't disappeared, so still not for the faint of heart.
