November 22, 2018 - Showing really well at 11 years old. From a magnum. White flowers on the nose. The palate was more like a fine Corton Charlemagne with flavors of brioche, white toast and toasted oak. The finish was rich. Overall an excellent aperitif wine for our Thanksgiving dinner.

December 14, 2014 - Still drinking nice. Balanced but ready. Maybe on the decline. I remember it being better. Not too acidic.

October 6, 2012 - Very typical mid tier central coast chardonnay, and in my opinion one of the better ones in this price range. Tropical fruit nose, rich mid palate. Typical vanilla oak tannins on the finish, but not too overdone. A bit of heat on the finish. Best with rich and flavorful somewhat spicy foods to counter the intense simple flavors of the wine. Went well with cummin coated roast pork with cabbage and mustard.

July 13, 2012 - Nose of green apple, honeysuckle, butterscotch, citrus and toasted oak. Apple, tropical fruit, and mild oaky tannins lead to a long finish. A very well made Cali chard, with wonderful fruit and good acidic balance. Paired with shrimp scampi.

June 18, 2011 - How do you separate location and timing from experience? My answer is: I don't. I am finishing my last bottle of Mer Soleil on mer soleil. Meaning a beatific day on the sundappled deck of The Beacon, overlooking the magnificent Atlantic Ocean. Last bottle. Last light of day. An outstanding experience of Chardonnay, at it's peak, just the way I love it. Life is not only good, it is grand.
