October 7, 2014 - Worried this was going to be too young but opened it anyway because I thought I had another bottle. Wrong on both counts--not too young, but has lots of life and will probably improve further still to be a serious "value" given what CalCabs of this quality run these days. But alas, the last bottle! Word is the newer vintages are outstanding, too, but the price has crept up.

September 27, 2014 - On the nose, sea salt chocolate pieces with a background of fresh finished lacquer and pine wood. The lacquer lingers but it is not to bold. I had expected to smell some alcohol, At 14.5%, but the elements of this wine hide it well. Extremely smooth on the tongue. Flavors of vanilla and light cocoa, along with fall spices, cinnamon and nutmeg. It's finish washes down well and doesn't leave behind too much of the wines taste. I would suggest a solid pasta sauce or marinaded beef where you would want to enjoy the the complex flavors of the dish along with a great complimenting wine, and not a great wine with a complimenting dish. This is a good wine, and it's price is amazing considering it is grown in the same company of much higher priced wines.

July 19, 2014 - This is a very nice effort. PNP at steakhouse with a Filet and Ribs. Medium bodied and drinking well right now with tannins under control. Great balance leaning more earthy than fruity. Better than the '08 and more similar to the '07. Extra points for being one of the best Napa Cab QPRs available.

March 17, 2014 - Had this on our last night of vacation after having really good bottles each of the previous two nights. This one just couldn't stack up. It wasn't bad, but after Chimney Rock and a Beringer single vineyard, this had some tough competition. We probably should have started with this one.
