March 20, 2023 - Monday Night Bordeaux (Hawksmoor, Guildhall): A bit of wool, lanolin, pineapple broom and orange peel made for a tasty glass. Don't drink enough grand sec though I have bought more in recent years. The general concensus around the table was that this was excellent, high interest and very well made, but that the price was likely to be highly off-putting despite the quality on offer!

March 20, 2023 - Monday night Bordeaux (Hawksmoor Guildhall): Really enjoyed this, in part because of its balance and complexity but also I suspect because I just don't drink this sort of wine often enough. More Sauv than Sem on the nose (apparently the cepage is 45% Sémillon, 45% Sauvignon, 10% Muscadelle), and rather lovely with it: nettles, gooseberry, herbs and some custard. Bitter and phenolic on the palate, almost like a hoppy West Coast IPA, chewy in texture, with pineapple and lime and again some custard. A definite success.

March 20, 2023 - Bordeaux at Hawksmoor: Smoky pineapple, orange pith and fennel. Creamy on the palate and broad with a savoury, bitter twist. It's ripe, bouncy and persistent - a lot more fun than I'd have expected

July 12, 2021 - JR Group of Six Dinner (Vancouver, BC): Tasted blind next to the 2010 Château Smith Haut Lafitte Blanc. Super grassy on the nose entwined with plenty of floral orange blossom and papaya. Some solid richness here on the palate but it's well restrained by the acidity and actually finished quite crisp. This was a fair bit darker in colour than the SHL tasted along side but that was somewhat deceiving as it drank fresher than I was expecting. My first Lynch-Bages blanc...this was quite interesting to try but overall I preferred the leaner and more focused style of the SHL.

August 30, 2016 - Catty sauvignon, only partly softened by the oak - high acid and lively - I like this but suspect I'd be in a minority
