November 25, 2014 - Agreed with the below -- Green peppers; cedar; cherries. A savory wine, though the tannins are a bit stiff for me at the moment. Would benefit from some additional time.

August 23, 2014 - Dark ruby. Inviting nose of green pepper, dusty dark tart cherry, crushed rocks. Dense and somewhat chewy right now, pleasantly tannic. Finishes long and tangy. Better in another few years.

August 9, 2014 - Decanted for an hour prior.

Huge earthy elements on the nose, cigar box, tobacco, leather.... similar on the palate with a silky smooth light dark fruit and earthy tones, light/medium body, medium acid, not a lot of tannin on this.

I really enjoyed this wine. Would definitely buy/drink again

August 7, 2014 - The anti-fruit bomb. Big poopy nose and drains at first but hold off 10 minutes and this loses the stink and that Cab Franc peppery nose comes through. This costs 15 English pounds - for that you struggle to get a bland supermarket branded wine from corporate-whipped-famers for that price. This has terroir, nuance, age-ability, character and FLAVOUR. Who remembers that? Reject Fruit Bomb Embrace Nuance.

June 14, 2014 - Big stinky nose on opening with a pronounced dose of barnyard & compost which blows off thankfully. I think this is still early on as evidenced by the dry grippy tannins which did smooth over more with air. There is lovely depth of color and a very present ferrous, bloody note which adds minerality to the under ripe blackberries and plums. There is still an animal note which lingers on palate after the wine has gone but certainly did not bother me as it feels in tune with the character of this excellent value Chinon.

(Bernard Baudry Chinon Clos Guillot) A clay and limestone terroir. This has been in barrel for one month. A fabulous Chinon nose, all limestone and black fruits, fresh and defined. And on the palate, there is a lovely supple presence to the fruit which covers a crunchy layer of firm, tannins and also a very fresh and forceful layer of crisp acidity. There is a lot going on here, but it all comes together in a supple, polished midpalate presence before the tannins come out at the finish. This is a well-structured composition. It should be lovely.
