January 22, 2017 - PnP, dark ruby red, mixed of red/dark fruit on the nose, oak present and not as perfectly integrated which is a bit surprising. Slightly austere and tannic, also a surprise given the length of time in the cellar. can see this lasting a few more years and a good wine but was expecting a bit more. Needed to pair this with red meat which we did not have. Still 1/2 a bottle left -perhaps day 2 will be better. Day 2: Substantially easier to drink with more refined tannin - worth perhaps another point.

November 12, 2016 - Deep dark center, red rim with some signs of age.
Sweet briar and pipe tobacco, black olives, blackberries and some blackcurrant, well integrated oak.
Smooth, black plums and blackberries, tobacco, low acidity and tannin at this point, noticeable alcohol, good length.
Matured very well, drinking well now.

June 15, 2016 - The word that kept coming to mind as I tasted this wine was "focused." It struck me as doing one thing and doing that one thing quite well. There was significant camphor/eucalyptus upon opening, but that started to blow off the longer it was open. The palette had very refined flavors of dark berries, a little hint of chocolate and some red licorice. Again, it seemed very focused. It was excellent, but I don't think it warranted the 95 assigned to it by RP. For me, 95 needs to be extraordinary, not just really good.

April 22, 2016 - Beautiful and opulent black cherry nose. Rolling dark fruit palate, chocolate, soft integrated tannins and generous mouth feel. Very nice wine that is drinking well. Interestingly I thought the wine showed much better than my wife did. 5+13+16+8=92

April 10, 2016 - Camphor on the nose. On the palate, black cherry, currants, and a faint note of vanilla oak, with no noticeable tannins and a touch of alcoholic heat on the medium to long finish. I see that the price on this has risen above $60; at that level it's an average value.
