April 20, 2024 - Huet-A-Thon (Bay Area Edition): Super powerful nose of apricot, honey, and orange zest. Viscous mouthfeel with intense fruit and sweetness on the palate balanced with invigorating acidity that keeps the wine light on its feet. Long finish with a satisfying jolt of refreshing sourness. Absolutely beautiful.

October 22, 2023 - This was pretty amazing. Intense apricot flavor, piercing acidity very well balanced with the sweetness and a long, long finish. Nose only medium although perhaps we had it too cold.

May 31, 2023 - While I much prefer the sophistication and depth of D’Quem, this was far more interesting and enjoyable than my go to Cali Late Harvest. Sweet apricot, honey and pecan, balance a high acidity. The finish was just a bit puckered.

May 4, 2023 - Quite a dark color with amazing sweet apricot fruit and great acidity and tension on the finish. Light on its feet and so fine and elegant as well. More to come here. 94+

December 14, 2022 - A survey of Domaine Huet (Chicago, IL): Coat of arms label. I didn't find this anywhere as convincing as the 1989 1ère tries. The nose here is definitely very wooly, and it's really the first wine where that furry, animal quality in chenin really sticks out, out of the entire lineup. The palate is certainly concentrated and sweet, but the fruit feels a little muddied and the botrytis nowhere as clean as it ought to be. Still, there's plenty of apricot and other dried fruits here, it's just that there's just not that extra level.

October 7, 2021 - Very marmalade driven, dried apricots, raisins. Caramel; very full and rich, dense with the sugar, tingling acidity still. Really bracing on the finish. Impressive fresh streak through this.

October 2, 2021 - Amber color. Tastes like a tangy sweet cocktail. Delicious. Enjoyed last glass just as much after six weeks in fridge with vacuvin cork.

July 3, 2021 - Had in a lineup with a magical '89 d'Yquem, and a 1990 Baumards Quarts de Chaume though very very good was not quite in the same ballpark as the other two. The viscosity of the Cuvee Contance is just remarkable. It complete coats the mouth and dominates the nose, the texture, and the taste. Moving at a glacial rate, this thing is still as the first time I tasted this well over a decade ago. On the nose and palate orange marmalade, apricot, honey, chrysanthemum and Pu Erh Tea. Still and surprisingly very fresh and super long finish. Where the the Yquem has a greater elegance and persistence on the finish, this Cuvee Constance has more staying power if not the ultimate length of the Yquem.

May 2, 2021 - 500 ml. bottle. Light golden. Spicy apricot and pear. Clean, elegant weight, moderately sweet pure fruit tones balanced with excellent acidity. Excellent and lively, but not nearly as profound as the 1989 Cuvée Constance.

October 9, 2019 - Like a highly spiced poaching liquid with caramel, green figs, and apricots. Floral honey gives this both an unctuous density and something that goes down smoothly. Acid structure just starting to waver, but it's gorgeous and haunting and will probably outshine most puddings you try to pair with it.
