    August 1, 2014 - tasted blind

Riproaring nose, orange peel, blood. In the mouth powerful dense and chewy. fruit intermixed with licorice, and tobacco. My 2nd favorite wine of the evening besting out Harlan and a Maya. what does that say?

    February 2, 2014 - Nose - tomato, funky
Mouth - savory and sweet intermixed, great complexity of fruit, Bordeaux-esque. And of first growth caliber dare I say.

September 18, 2013 - again courtesy of Duane, limited notes, rich and rather primary, showing less complexity at this stage than the '95 Pahlmeyer proprietary red. still an impressive showing

January 22, 2013 - Dinner for Rebecca and Malcolm (Ponsonby, Auckland, New Zealand): Stunning Napa wine of great complexity. Textbook cedar and smoke with absolutely gorgeous plum and currant aromas. Perfect balance of power and subtlety. Layer upon layer of refined fruit. Drinking at maturity but I imagine in a cold cellar this will last another decade and possibly continue to improve. Underneath the beauty of the fruit lurks a firm tannic backbone that only added to the complexity and greatness of the wine. 96

February 18, 2012 - The wine was absolutely delcious and the nose was intoxicating. Smelled like a classic right bank Merlot with rich plum flaovrs, rounded tannins and a smell best described as haunting.
