December 13, 2023 - Decanted for 1 hour. Classic nose of sea brine, iodine and citrus. Fairly ripe, showing orchard fruit mixed with chalky limestone and a lovely saline infused texture. Excellent.
March 30, 2022 - Decanted 2 hours before serving. Medium yellow with a glint of green. Some residual sulfur, iodine, kelp, and citrus aromas. Really fantastic texture for a village Chablis. The flavors are a combination of lemon, apple, and the salty sea notes with average acidity. What is different from past tastings is that any wood I noted before has been fully absorbed. All told, this leans toward a riper vintage profile. The concentration, mouth feel, and length are all exceptional for a village Chablis, and it seems to be drinking at peak now.
July 3, 2021 - Light greenish yellow. Neutral oak and sea spray aromas. Lush, ripe entry with yellow apple and pear followed by a woody finale that is reasonably saline. This just seems too round and soft, and there is no denying the heavy oak base, which is overdone for me. All of that wood gives it an unusually velvety feel but at a real cost. This is one of those Raveneau wines that veers off in a richer Côte de Beaune direction.
Better the next night. More oyster shell and honeysuckle, less overrun by wood, and less ponderous.
June 19, 2019 - very pure and very much in its youth. beautiful acidity
delicious - will drink well for 5+ years
November 27, 2018 - PnP, chilled, and improved as it aired out. A crowd pleaser, even at the Village level...
A medium plus bodied wine, with plenty of lemon (juice and crème), minerality, some apple and pear, and mouth-cleansing juicy acidity. Ready to drink now, but give it air, and you will be amply rewarded. However, questionable QPR at the $100 and over U.S. retail price. Should hold for several years.
October 25, 2018 - The big Raveneau tasting (Kjell Tores Mat - Oslo): Tropical and warm. Lavender flowers, nice and rich. Good quality entry level Raveneau which is quite opulent and tight on the palate. Super nice acidic balance.
92-93 points.
October 25, 2018 - For ung. Gir lite. Noe blomster og sitrus.
September 9, 2018 - Blind. Mature lemon, a hint of greenness; good maturity to the fruit, minerals, well balanced.
August 9, 2018 - Sadly, this bottle seemed a bit more mature than fit to be, and I understand that's quite rare with Raveneau, but here we are. Still enjoyable, but lacking a vivacity. Perhaps it was in a transitional state? Only the beginning of honey but more oxidative.
