September 15, 2023 - Wine is drinking beautifully. Smooth with great integration, resolved tannins if there ever was any. Rich fruit with a hint of leather on the finish. Many have said this can age and it likely can, but I do not see any reason to wait.

May 17, 2023 - No real notes, but thought it worth mentioning that this was the first time I've seen a Lagier Meredith show some real aged characteristics. No doubt it has plenty of life ahead, but it was great to see some earthy, savory and spice notes alongside the vibrant California mountain fruit. Truly enjoyable and a good companion to hanger steaks and an herb-heavy salad.

August 31, 2020 - Dark rich and smooth. Lots of black fruit and mocha. The wine is hanging in there nicely. Very smooth.

July 5, 2020 - This has added richness and integration. Where it was full of intrigue and character, it’s now added quite bold and delicious black fruit. Decant for some fine sediments. Drinking great right now, seems to be at maturity, but no real signs of age. I’d bet this has another ten years.

May 15, 2020 - Come on and Zoom, Zoom, Zooma Zoom: I brought this as a gift for Chris S. He loves the "duese". Come to find out he has never had the LM version so this worked out very well.

I love this wine. It comes across as a very high end, well made Aussie Syrah, than anything else. It's well built, beautiful fruit, meaty, textured, deep purple color. My WOTN with the Rhys.

August 28, 2018 - In great shape. No rush to drink it.
Dark fruits on the nose and palate. Nice acid. Had a great floral nose, although wasn't quite the match for the Rhys pinot noir. Went great with the duck papperdelle and would match a wide variety of foods.

October 4, 2016 - More open on day two. Dark fruit, a bit of meat, a bit floral, medium+ acid & tannins add great structure. Complex and balanced. Pop one now if you have more than one but no rush on this at all.

May 5, 2016 - I purchased a case of this wine on release and have been drinking a bottle per year to follow the evolution of this unusual grape variety as produced by the superlative Carole Meredith and Steve Lagier.

The early bottles showed a bloody brooding meaty power, but the wine has become more refined over the years.

This last bottle was the brightness with pleasant acidity, pure fruit, and a gracefulness on the palate that was slightly reminiscent of Gattinara instead of Rhone Syrah.

January 11, 2016 - Fragrant fruit jumped out with the cork. Gave it an hour or so decant and enjoyed this lovely wine with prime rib eye steaks. Good spice and oh, that fruit.
