May 24, 2020 - Not a good wine but this 11 year old bottle was totally drinkable.

October 6, 2014 - earthy and a little raw, but distinctive and quite good with lamb shanks

January 21, 2014 - Dark cherries and a hint of cocoa on the nose. Warm and spicy. The acidity and tannins had balanced with the additional aging. A long finish that complimented the pasta al forno and garlic bread.

July 9, 2013 - Choked down a couple sips. Did not improve with food or time. Dumped it down the sink.

January 26, 2013 - Balance was lacking, more acidic than expected. Medium to light finish.

November 13, 2012 - Decanted and let breathe for two hours. Deep nose. Hefty on the palate, probably best with a spicy mussels marinara or similar. Not for the faint of heart!

October 16, 2012 - Deep ruby core with light ruby rim. Popped and poured - ripe black cherry, violets, tobacco, on the nose. Surprised by the soft mouthfeel given the wine's composition; I'd have guessed a higher proportion of merlot and syrah based on the this wine's structure. Balanced acidity and just enough backbone make this wine easy to pair with a wide variety of dishes. Ready to drink now through 2013 latest. Notes of oak-imparted vanilla make up this wine's medium-short finish.

October 7, 2012 - Undrinkable. Second bottle of same year was no better. Acrid scent and sour taste.

October 7, 2012 - Opened the bottle from my cooler and it nearly exploded, foaming out onto everything. Took out a second bottle (opening it outside this time) and it did the same thing. Took a quick taste of what was left and it might as well have been vinegar. There was no agitation and it was chilled to 58 degrees. Very disappointing.
