January 8, 2024 - Delicious with a boeuf bourguignon - silky smooth, lovely red and blue fruit, hedgerow, forest floor and mushrooms, with a hint of spices and menthol. Mature and in its drinking window but plenty of life in it yet.

December 10, 2022 - This bottle was a bit more open and generous than the bottle I had earlier this year, showing ripe red and dark fruit and some earthy and minerally notes, but not a lot of length. Still had some structure, so the wine might have a little more time ahead of it, but not sure it will improve.

September 10, 2022 - Sometimes you get lucky and catch a modest bottle at its apogee, for a dazzling wine experience. Such was the '99 Jadot Ursules. Dark colored. Dense cherry and raspberry, moist earth, mushrooms, with minerals at the end of the long finish. Persistent; simply gorgeous. Bottles like this counterbalance the occasional regret of disappointing burgundies.

April 18, 2022 - I messed up the cork, but the wine was clear, beautiful garnet. Burst of red fruits on the nose. Full and tall in the mouth, with very good length.
    Excellent bottle.

May 22, 2021 - Ruby color, with a floral nose. Red cherries, slightly tart, some minerality, but quite austere and tannic. This bottle was not ready.

February 1, 2021 - Five years since the last bottle I opened of this, and it turns out that is about right. No rush, but it’s drinking very well. Forest floor aromas are accented by cherry compote, and rich, warm herbal notes infuse the mid palate. It’s a breath of serenity in turbulent times. Linger with the aromas, and feel them, more than smell them. The finish echoes the aromas, and hovers like the final note of a hymn.

December 6, 2020 - Still fresh, good finish, profile towards the black fruit side but not strongly so. In a great place now

February 28, 2020 - [Double-decanted at 5pm. Tasted around 8pm.] Nose of cherries and balsam with a hint of licorice. Black cherry and forest floor in the mouth. Beautifully matched to mushroom Bourgogne.
    Next day: Fading. Drink up.

September 20, 2019 - Our last bottle of this wine, consumed tonight with grilled chicken. Of the three bottles, this showing was by far the best. Earth, graphite, black raspberry all meld together in the nose. On the palate, the tannins are smooth and the acids still bright. It really comes into its own with food. For our tastes, this is probably close to peak, but it clearly has many years of maturity left.
