February 13, 2021 - Retail $50. I have a couple of "wows" here. First, it has been over a year since i last tried this wine and B., this was my last bottle of this wine, and finally, it was a signed bottle. So much to unpack, let's just say "similar notes" and call it a tasting note?? Black cherry, a bit of earth, pepper, and just slightly stewed. The palate is fruity, albeit reserved, with great acidity, plenty of verve, and a lengthy finish. Fantastic. Whoa.

January 20, 2020 - Over the last few years, it seems as though my favorite Pinot producers either were bought out by a huge producer (e.g., Brewer-Clifton, Siduri), went out of production (Clos Pepe), or retired and folded up the tent (Skewis). Hank and Maggie decided to call it a career a couple of years ago now and while I have a good supply of their wines in the cellar, they will not last in perpetuity. Still, they were meant to be consumed so I tackled this Montgomery tonight. Black cherry, a bit of earth, pepper, and just slightly stewed. The palate is fruity, albeit reserved, with great acidity, plenty of verve, and a lengthy finish. Fantastic. Whoa.

March 2, 2013 - A really nice wine that is drinking well now, but could keep a few more years, in my opinion. Bouquet of cherry and plum. Well balanced, good mouth feel. Classic RRV Pinot. Fairly long finish.
October 12, 2012 - Far exceeded my expectations. Excellent tartness and finish. Pretty nose. Smoothed our further after a 1 hr decant. 92-93 pts.
June 16, 2012 - Black cherry color. Pretty nose of black cherry, spice, and a light floral note. In the mouth, good structure and a bit rustic, with strong acidity, but good cherry fruit and a moderately tannic finish. B+
December 8, 2011 - Lighter style Pinot which I love...bright red cherry with some white pepper on the finish. Smooth wine and easy drinker.
