October 1, 2021 - Lots of stewed dark fruit and nice earth and smokiness

March 26, 2021 - Great with grilled steak! Lots of fruit forward, with wonderful savory and earth notes. Still fresh and young and if stored right could last several more years. Decanted for about 2 hrs and drank over another 2.

January 26, 2020 - Method: quick double decant (there was some sediment, but not a ton) and then drank it an hour later at dinner in the restaurant's pretty lousy wine glasses.

Look: deep purple, with a bit of maroon; medium speed legs

Nose: blackberry, dark cherry, eucalyptus, light mint, bramble; pretty expressive

Palate: blueberry, dark cherry, pepper, eucalyptus, maybe a bit of chocolate, slightly aged leather; long- but not especially strong finish of leather and pepper; medium+ body; dry; medium acidity; medium, rough tannin, which smoothed out with some air

Overall thoughts: Great, fairly complex flavor, and the fruit becomes more pure with air. The mouthfeel is pretty smooth after some air, but doesn't have quite the big, luxurious feel that some high-end Paso Wines have. Great, but doesn't particularly stand out among other great wines. Other than softening a bit, I'm not sure I noticed a ton of upside from the 10 years of aging (although, I never had this wine before today), but it seems to have life left and it was never close to fading during the course of our 2 hour dinner.

August 30, 2019 - Dark and intense ripe fruit with blackberry, blueberry and spice and smoke on the finish

May 11, 2018 - This was really something special - though I think this is on the verge of getting over the hill. This was poured via Coravin to keep any oxidation at bay. As long as the wine in the glass was poured <30m... this was truly heaven.

On the nose - raspberries and spice. On the palette, big bursting, juicy, and succulent raspberries with a spice and cherry flavor that teases of cinnamon the turns quickly to a baking spice. Fine tannins and a perfectly balanced 15.3%. The finish lingered for a while - which was really nice.

Enjoyed with a strip steak seasoned with salt and pepper - the pepper seemed to bring the fruit to life (as if that was possible) and brought out the most perfect raspberry juiciness. This was stunning - and I can’t wait to repeat the formula on the next two bottles asap! Plus, the QPR on this was simply outrageous.
