December 30, 2023 - Ripe, round, but relatively neutral in its white fruits, lacks grip. Disappointing for what it should be/is. Cellared since original release.

July 16, 2022 - The wine has clearly changed - we are still getting a lot of tropical fruit - pineapple, passion fruit - and grape - we are however not really getting petroleum this time - the wine wine has always had residual - but is becoming more pronounced this time. We are not getting any ripped apple this time - still clearly honey. Still a nice long aftertaste -but the sweetness is becoming more dominant here also. We still like the wine a lot - but fell that the the wine has lost a bit of its freshness and therefore we are lowering our rating to very solid 92.

November 25, 2021 - happy to stay at well deserved 93 the wine is drinking well - comes across as very elegant and refreshing - we are getting petroleum and tropical fruit (pineapple). We are also getting ripped apple and clearly some grape - especially toward the end - where you get a nice long aftertaste. Nice minerality and we also get some honey.

January 29, 2021 - It's been four years since I last tasted this, when it was (in retrospect) in a spotty phase, and a bit unwieldy. Today it is really singing, comfortably on its plateau of maturity, marrying elegance and weight, freshness and ripeness, a beautiful reflection of the richness of the vintage and the finesse of the terroir. Aromatic nose with ripe (but not / no longer tropical) Riesling fruit, flowers and spices, easily flowing palate with gentle bitters, and a complete and long finish. Drink now - 2024.

August 15, 2020 - What an improvement - I had my last bottle in 2013 - you can still fell the tropical fruits that was dominating the wine in its early life - but now you also get petroleum - you get honey - acidity is clearly lower - I would say medium - still minimality - a good balance - but clearly very different from what I had 7 years ago - I think the wine has turnout very well - and I am happy to increase my rating to big 92.

April 26, 2019 - Full, fat and flowery nose. Nice comination of rubber-petrol and honey. Minerally modelling clay notes. Good depth.
Fat, medium-fullish, off-dry palate. Pure fruit. Lovely fruit. High, but not ultra-high acidity. Peach, honey and apple. Less petrol impression on palate. Actually very nice. In a perfect drinking window. If you like petrol - cellar 3-5 more years.

September 2, 2018 - Great bottle of riesling from one of the oldest wineries in german history. It reminds me that wine is history. Placed in Rheingau this winery has made their rieslings for more than 9 centuries! Almost 10 years old this bottle of GG riesling starts to show what happens when ageing great riesling. A deep complexity where spices and minerals are more predominant than fruit. A little sweetness at the finish helps to round off the edges. A very smooth and pleasant wine.
