August 8, 2014 - Blasts off with a massive, multi-layered dose of fat layers with juicy, sexy fruits. The wine is about silk, ripeness and peppery spices. Tthis coats your mouth while delivering freshness and complexity that makes you think and drink. If you love Chateauneuf du Pape, you need to try a bottle. In the years to come, this could earn a higher score.

May 30, 2014 - Obviously not to my taste, as I'm completely contrary to the notes here as well as others at the tasting....

Sweet red fruit on the nose, lots of heat. I felt this was a bit bretty as well. Total mess of a wine dominated by alcohol and muddled overripe, sweet flavors.

97 pts

October 7, 2013 - My birthday week is the perfect opportunity (or excuse?) to decant (one hour) another bottle. Black color lurks in the dusky purple robe. With swirling, a vibrant and complex nose emerges of black fruits, anise, rosemary, sage, pepper, coffee beans, dark chocolate and just a hint of funk. Broad and full-bodied, the wine coats the mouth with glycerin viscosity. The concentrated ripe fruit, coffee and olive flavors are huge, almost decadent, and are enlivened by juicy uplifting acidity. The long-lasting finish is rich and creamy and laced with plums, herbs, cocoa and minerals and the big and sweet tannins scarcely call attention to themselves. How can something this powerful be so seamless, effortless and balanced? This very young wine will surely get better with time, but even in its infancy it inspires awe. Happy birthday to me. 100 points. (And I still want 10 cases just for me!)
