August 27, 2023 - My only one and I'm glad we sat on it based on the previous reviews. I think it's a bit more balanced than what it sounded previously. Fairly dense garnet color. Smells like dark fruits, graphite, chocolate, licorice, crushed rocks. Medium body, medium (+) acid and finish, with flavors of dark fruits, orange peel, spice, and minerals. Yeah, I really think giving these bigger Australians some extra time is key.

July 28, 2020 - Starting to show some of its age. Not as deeply hued. Nose is medium intensity with violet and black fruit. Palate is mixed, with the tell tale pepper and overripe fruit mixed with notes of leather that don't quite integrate. I'll enjoy my other bottle very soon.

March 27, 2020 - Thick and unctuous, with brooding dark fruits and very smooth tannins. Drinking really well now.

July 29, 2016 - Wow! That is chunky. I thought I had drunk dense Australian Shiraz until now. Thick berries and alcohol. Only try if you like Ozzy style Shiraz at its most extreme.

September 5, 2015 - Underneath all that alcoholic burn is a really complex, smoky, blueberry, very long wine, with a touch of bitterness on the finish. Superb nose. Such a shame that 14.9% alc. overpowers a wonderful wine.

June 23, 2014 - Compared to the GAM this has more red fruits, less licorice, more lighter tonned if you will, and more cinnamon as well, as if (almost) its got some Grenache in it. But there is not Grenache in it. A beautiful perfume. And that is why they started seperating out the Savitar. A much more defined floral and pepper character, specifically white pepper (I am being told and agree with). Another taster notes a "beautiful blueberry lift, less of the black olive tapenade of the GAM". A bit more Chinese spice as well.

April 5, 2014 - about an hour of air, about right,
The wine looks crimson colored. The legs are medium. There is light sediment in the bottle. It smells like blackberry. It tastes like blackberry. The body is medium/full. The wine has smooth texture. The wine finishes medium. The wine has low acidity.

June 20, 2012 - GT wine magazine - top tasting - mcLaren Vale Reds (Oak Barrel, Elizabeth Street, Sydney): Purple. Medium plus intensity aromas of black and green peppercorn, meaty, black fruit over cream and oak. In the mouth the savoury black fruit and black pepper. The high tannin is intrusive, thick, chewy and, on the medium finish, dominant. Meh
