Community Tasting Notes 5

November 27, 2016 - Opened a 6 liter for a wedding. Way too young. The 750 I had was lovely. The larger format needed another 10 years or so. I buy a lot of large formats and I learned to wait much longer to open larger bottle it ages much slower.

May 17, 2013 - Remarkable color, opaque purple with a dark ruby edge. Rather closed at the nose, some hay, cedar, charcoal and milk chocolate. Medium (-full) and creamy on the palate, round and silky but also still appearing very young with lots of cassis, bell pepper, black pepper and some firm tannins. These tannins disappeared on the second day and even more fruit appeared, so no hurry to open this.

June 19, 2011 - Decanted this for 2 hours, some positive expectations for a good vintage, never mind the producers. Very tight, closed, notes of cherries, some grass, green vegetal aromas slowly rising. Light ruby-red, on the palate- pomegranate, gooseberries, acid in the foreground giving the impression of hidden fruits, floral layers, bits of oak, cocoa, medium to dry finish. Would it improve?

September 25, 2010 - Dry leathery nose with black tea and some soil. Still quite fresh dark plummish cherry fruits that has some depth. Light licorice spices.

April 2, 2006 - Austere, austere, austere. Very nice nose of cassis, with some ripe blueberry and a bit of leather. On the mouth, there isn't much fruit, but some dark plum and cherry wrapped in a puff of cigar smoke. Somewhat drying on the palate, but a pleasant medium finish. Very nice with some marinated skirt steak.
