December 12, 2023 - Usually, i am not a fan of red Carbonnieux, i rather prefer the white. This wine though was delicious with all tannins turned into fine grained flow, predominantly mint and earthy cherry notes, with quite some garrigues notes too, accompanied by some faint Pessac typical asphalt. The length was medium, but extremely polished and defensively aromatic, a pleasure to drink with slow roast veal and vegetables.

Interesting to see how notes from more than 10 years ago predicted decline of this Pessac now rising to the task at some twenty years of age. In this shape, i would give easy some 5 to 8 more years. Another bottle was slightly corked and not taken into account for the note.

August 29, 2012 - Random purchase by wife when in France, turned out to be a winner, and none too soon. Next year I'd be complaining about it being over the hill. Very nice. Perhaps a bit too much toast on the oak, but otherwise well balanced and lovely with wine.

August 10, 2012 - Meh! A shame because this is such a good producer - 2003 is simply a vintage to avoid for this Château. Flabby and lacks structure.

August 10, 2012 - The nose on this bottle is mute, which maybe attributed to travel shock. In the mouth, slightly bitter, medium bodied set of flavours, with a bit of spice and tobacco to compliment the fruit. Not the heavy, plummy flavours you would expect from the vintage. Nothing exciting but correct for the price I paid

February 7, 2012 - Given the reputation of the vintage, and the 89 from Parker, this wine (which is drinking really rather well now, could go a little longer, though probably won't hold up the 15 years Parker gives it), can be had for a song, often less than the current release. It smells a little older than it is, with some black tea, cedar and herbs on the nose. Blackcurrant-y fruit in the mouth. Tannins feel a little disjointed, maybe, but the finish is really great with juicy fruit and minerality to boot. It's a very nice wine for the price, and I give it 2 thumbs up!
