May 2, 2016 - DRC Tasting Group: Bordeaux Night (Seattle, WA): Tasted blind. Spice, raisin, dust, black cherry, and cinnamon. Lush and fruit-forward, with higher acidity but still nicely balanced.

March 8, 2012 - Terroir of St Emilion (Roberson Wine, South Ken, London): Light restrained on the nose. Roundish on the palate but still quite tannic. Alive and Kicking. Enjoyable but not memorable in any way . On the way down too so start to drink this. 89

September 1, 2011 - No detailed notes. Opened, and originally this came across as a bit muddy/gamey to me, which it seems I often get from younger St. Emilion wines. Surprisingly, I pulled the remaining half a bottle from the fridge days later, and on Day 5 this is performing better than when it was opened. Brighter, more obvious cherry/fruit notes, more complexity and balance all the way around, with a distinctive brightness that wasn't present at the pop. If I had more of these, I probably wouldn't be in a rush to drink them (WA "drink by" of 2012 notwithstanding).

    January 18, 2010 - Taste at Elysian.
Open for two hours. Very nice dark red cherries, leather, cigar box and tobacco.
Palate is less impressive but more subtle. Nice acidity and medium bodied.
    Good.

January 7, 2010 - Wow. What a pleasant surprise. I was reading RP's review on this and was prepared to be disappointed. Today is housecleaning day for wines, and a fair number of questionable bottles have been opened and poured out. This will not be one.

On the nose, cherry dominates, with some meatiness that fades into the background after 10 minutes in the glass. On the palate, much brighter and less brooding than many I've tried from St. Emillion (thinking Monbousquet and Pavie). I'm not sure of the blend, perhaps less merlot in this one? Cherry tones and some nice minerality and prominent but balanced acidity. Finish is still a bit sharp with some tannins that become progressively stronger through the first 30 minutes. I'm torn about what to do with my 1 remaining bottle. I'm not convinced the fruit will outlast the tannins.

Was very surprised to see retailers trying to move this at around $90. I picked up mine for $22, a price that represents a steal for what's in the bottle.

June 21, 2009 - Fully evolved with aromas of herbs and fresh red fruit, there was some dryness in the finish. I would drink this sooner than later
