September 17, 2023 - My last bottle. Typical of my recent notes - very good, in no way showing age.

August 19, 2023 - Delicious but perhaps showing the vintage in that it's getting just a bit soft.

June 29, 2023 - Interesting experience with this bottle. Like the one I opened in May, it seemed a little deflated on opening. Perked up a bit with air, but seemed like a wine to enjoy for its aged refinement and texture more than its flavor. When I open a 750, I generally decant half into a clean 375 bottle and drink the whole thing over four nights. The last glass of this bottle, out of the 375 on night four, was qualitatively different from the first three, as the wine spread out over the palate with a peacock's tail of burnished, golden flavors. For some reason it made me think of Klimt's "The Kiss." I was so startled I didn't note down individual flavor components, but the overall impression was of a delicious, complex mouthful. I've suspected for a while that well-made Muscadet is a true vin de garde that reveals its potential only with patience, and this bottle would be exhibit a in making that case. Hard to have too much in storage.

May 21, 2023 - Poured immediately after opening, the wine from this bottle played possum, presenting the lack of flavor of an oxidized, over-the-hill white. With half an hour in the glass, it revives, giving an open-knit, refined version of the Clisson, with ample tang and sea salt, minus the lemony veneer of this wine when it's younger. Personally, I like Muscadet best once it's reached this stage, when it's fully relaxed and transparent. I don't see much future for the 09, however, and will aim to drink the two remaining bottles this year.

January 2, 2023 - Eastman. Excellent as always. Round enough to be a good match with cheese and brisk enough for fresh grilled sardines.

    December 24, 2022 - From magnum.
    Perfect cork.
This was really sad. Just old moldy and oozing apples on a low acid wine...

Meh! What is this prematurely dead wine?
    Why me?

Det här blev riktigt tråkigt. Bara gamla mögliga och vätskande äpplen på ett vin med låg syra...
    Meh! Vad är det här?

June 19, 2022 - This is definitely showing some development. It was not temp controlled for last few years. Yellow color. Faint oxidation. Bright acidity. Not a lot of fruit. Some salinity. This is definitely still alive, and I find it quite interesting, but it is mature. This isn't delicious, but demands dinner reflection. It is fascinating.

July 23, 2021 - My note would be the same as Finare's from February, if I could write. In contrast, though, my estimation is that the wine is completely ready to drink, and I don't see any reason to expect improvement from here. But I believe Finare has more experience with Nantes wines than I do, and he may be right.

February 23, 2021 - Medium gold with visual intensity. The nose offers well developed, fine-tuned, leesy aromas of honey, beeswax, chamomile, quince and salty seashells. The palate is medium-bodied, with ample mouthfeel and creamy texture, medium acidity, notable alcohol (at least for a 12 % white) and deeper salinity on the fairly long finish. A mellow, harmonious, and highly enjoyable muscadet from a warm vintage with extended time on the lees, that might benefit from several years of further ageing.
