Community Tasting Notes 3

March 2, 2017 - Nose: Though the nose was reticent to begin with, it really blossomed and unraveled into raspberries, dark red cherries, violets, leather notes, brown spices, and a touch of iodine. There is a bit of a tartness to the fruit though the sappier quality a few years back is now pulling back.

Taste: Medium/full bodied with medium+ acidity and medium tannins. The structure is still noticeable, but it isn't too overpowering with raspberries, dark red cherries, violets, leather, and some iodine.

Overall: This has become rather pretty with some age and is just starting to enter its window. Six years ago, this showed a lot more upfront fruit, but now its starting to pull back and show off the terroir. I look forward to seeing where my remaining bottles go with more age.

April 8, 2011 - Sushi and vino (Sai Cafe, Chicago, IL): nose: rich and on the sappy side with tones of dark red fruits, red florals, berries, earth and oak tones as well. The oak is interfering a bit right now

taste: medium/full bodied with chewy tannins and medium acidity with rich tones of dark red fruits, berries, earth tones, and some oak on the back end as well

overall: there's still some real baby fat on this right now. Still shows the sappiness that I've been getting from 02s. This could still use some more time to shed the baby fat and hopefully absorb the oak

March 1, 2009 - drank this over two nights- tis a baby.
pretty tight nose but after a few hours of air it
started to show a little wet dirt, violets, and raspberries.
It has a nice deep mouth feel with kicking acidity. Showed some
red fruits, raspberries, blueberries, and rhubarb. Some minerals and
spicy tones peeking through here and there.

This needs a few more years as it never really got going but I sense this
wine has more it wants to tell. Will wait a few more years to hear that story.
