February 24, 2023 - ruby pour with bricking. nose with dusty funk, cinnamon, cherries, and lavender. there is even a bit of tobacco these days. light bodied with fresh acidity, dances on the tongue with exceptional balance. cherry fruit flavors with lava and fennel. minimal alcohol and fine dusty tannins. dry with sour cherries on the finish. a delight. so fresh and easy. pleasantly surprised to say 13 years past vintage and i think it is finally drinking at peak.

June 4, 2022 - Drunk back to back with the 2018 over a pizza with friends, no TN.
The fruit is fading but there are more complex aromas developing. Very smooth palate, still with all its body and presence and freshness too, but silky and with more earth than fruit. This is holding very well, beyond expectations.

April 22, 2022 - this is still cruising along swimmingly. good ruby density with some bricking on the edges. all that sweet red fruit and cinnamon still show. palate is silky smooth, light, and flush with ripe red cherry and berry. nice tactile lava rock minerality still present. flavors remain deep and and finish is long. this is sooo smooth and gulpable. a perfect example of a teaching from david lynch- although we know big tannins and big acid help preserve wines for years, the ones with great balance will go on and on as well.

July 25, 2020 - Drunk over dinner with friends, no TN.
Opened three hours before dinner and tried a sip, which made me worry that the wine was over the hill. But it just needed more air, found its balance and turned out overall wonderful. Very nice complexity, paired with good freshness and a light, agile structure, made this a joy to drink.
