September 15, 2016 - Gruaud Larose Tasting and Dinner (Northbrook, IL): Nicely maturing black fruit that I liked a lot to start with cigarbox and spice. Faded quickly in glass, losing interest after 10 minutes. I preferred this over 1981 to start, but the latter was better after 10 or 15 minutes.

September 15, 2016 - Château Gruaud-Larose Vertical (Knightsbridge and Abigail's): Always fun to try a birth year wine and this overachieved given the vintage and age. Nose shows aged/tired fruit, old leather and cedar chips. Palate is light bodied and on the thinner side, thought the fruit is still sweet and acids still present. Tannins resolved. A fine snapshot into old school GL, though one to drink ASAP.

May 8, 2013 - Gruaud Larose Dinner (Inovasi - Lake Bluff IL): Ok, moderate intensity with some firm fruit, moderate intensity, spice hints. Certainly better than expected!
