October 21, 2020 - Blind tasting Burgundy night for 5 pax paired with 1 star Michelin Chinese cuisine.
2004 Trapet Chambertin: Garnet in colour. Red fruits, strawberry, oak, medium+ acidity and tannin. Ranked 1st by consensus.
2003 Faiveley Exchezeaux: Spices, herbal, medium+ acidity and tannin. Slight bitter on the palate. The nose is slightly closed and after an hour in the glass reveal red fruits from the nose. Ranked 2nd by consensus
2016 Albert Bichot Romanee Saint-Vivant: Nose is closed even after 1-2 hours in the glass. Some flora notes. The wine leg indicates its a young wine but yet approachable. Ranked 4th by consensus.
2009 Perrot Minot Chambolle Musigny 1er Cru Les Echanges: Nose is closed. Toast, medium+ acidity and tannin, peppermint and flora notes. The wine leg indicates young wine. Ranked 3rd by consensus.
WTON for me was 2004 Trapet Chambertin follows by 2003 Faiveley Exchezeaux, 2016 Albert Bichot Romanee Saint Vivient, and lastly Perrot Minot Chambolle Musigny 1er Cru Les Echanges. Expected much more from Saint-Vivant which happen to be the priciest and was disappointed, it goes to show the importance of the right vintage drinking window. 2009 Perrot Minot Chambolle Musigny 1er Cru Les Echanges did not exhibit the usual typical nose of Chambolle Musigny, 2009 was a good vintage and it needs time to show the potential. Despite being in an extreme heat year, 2003 Faiveley Exchezeaux did well when blind, able to stored and will get better as it aged. 2004 Trapet Chambertin was an expected winner before the blind taste, Trapet had never disappointed me. 2004 is a poor vintage for red burgundy and hence it's in the optimum drinking window. A world-class producer and undervalued. -

January 29, 2016 - Very easy to appreciate on the nose, while the palate needs 1-2 more years. Neither great nor very complex, but this is a lot better than your average red burgundy.

January 20, 2016 - Light ruby, translucent. Expressive and pretty nose of red fruit, spices, strawberry, minerals. Light bodied on the palate, fresh, but almost a bit too sweet for a Burg. Elegant and light - Musigny style. Good but a bit harmless.
