December 8, 2014 - Checking back in on this stalwart and rustic offering. Still tightly wound overall, but a little more rounded. The bouquet and palate feature blackberry, violets, meatiness, tar, iodine, savory, crushed black rocks, coal, and ores. Screaming acid and serious tannic grip. Nicely balanced, with a long fork and knife finish. Should drink well through 2020-2022.

May 18, 2014 - This is an excellent example of rustic Gigondas, nothing flamboyant. Austere, rocks, minerals, and huge grip. Drank over two days. The attack is powerful and the back features tremendous grip. Came away with the impression that the mid range is not as developed as it should be though. It's not at all hollow, it just doesn't quite match the rest of the wine. A whole lot of wine that is not quite integrated at present, but hopefully will with time. The wine is structured and dense; it should age for ten or more years and there's potential for an additional point or two. 92-93.

February 17, 2014 - Perfect. A totally awesome Gigondas and a great vintage for this brilliant and consistent wine.

January 27, 2014 - I think Tanzer may have over-scored this one, BUT at a $20 price point, there are quite a few $50+ CdP that don't measure up. This is really a very pleasant cuvée. Dark cherry with beef blood and floral herbes de provence (I think that has another name ;-) I have included the description in public wine notes, in this case they are on the money, plus have some good background on the wine. I've modified the name of the famous reviewer so I don't get in trouble.

January 18, 2014 - Hmmmmm...IWC normally rates wines pretty conservatively...but not this one. You'd think Dr. Jay penned this one instead of Josh. :^) On the other hand, winex's review is dead-solid, though they're careful to not oversell what is an average Gigondas (and I respect that). This is a lithe little wine with red raspberry, but not much else. Awfully simple--and I say this after a third bottle (not all in one night, just so we're clear). Not nearly exotic or intense as IWC's verbiage implies. Frankly, it's enjoyable, but entirely forgettable.
