February 7, 2020 - The cool climate counterpart to barrel fermented sauvignon in warm bordeaux. Beautiful long and complex. Do not open before 10 years as the lees is far too dominant and interferes too strongly with flavor

July 27, 2019 - Cork, 14% alc. Light lemon colour.
Explosive nose of lemon drops, grapefruit, kero, passionfruit, peach, wet gravel, and a gentle smokiness.
Bright and creamy entry to the palate, fanning out with balanced acidic grip. Minor oak presence; more a seasoning. A little alcohol warmth peaks out, however it’s true to the slightly wild character of this wine. Medium bodied.
Opinion: Genuinely interesting NZ Sauvignon Blanc. Well balanced and integrated across the board. Not showing significant signs of age, and I’d love to see what happens with another 10 years. -

October 26, 2015 - My first tasting note still holds true. This time tropical fruits and grapefruit are a bit more pronounced. This wine isn't tired at all but I guess it is better to drink it within the next 3 years.

March 13, 2015 - Bright straw yellow with clear hue, subtle and complex nose of citrus, tropical fruits, gooseberries, herbs and just a touch of toasty oak. Showing nice development and pretty elegant.
Supple entry carries very good intensity, along with fruity notes of gooseberries and citrus. It has a nice mineral core on the mid-palate and bright acidity to maintain the freshness. Mineral and dried herbs finish, long and lingering.
18 months in older French oak barrels and the results is mellow and round mouth feel and well integrated oak flavours. A good NZ SB that still drink well after 7 years. -

March 13, 2015 - Drank this with my wine mates over a casual wine lunch today at New Ubin Seafood.
Very elegant and fragrant green fruit notes on the nose. On the palate this wine has characteristics of both old world and new world: notes of flint, minerals, sea salt and wet rocks with some grapefruit and lime. Hard core in the mid-palate, feeling like a little pebble in the mouth. Freshness is evident but not outstanding.
On the whole, the wine is appreciated for its complexity and offering a multi-dimensional, sensational experience for the drinker.
