October 20, 2022 - Really enjoyed this wine. Typical Syrah notes of smoke, spicy black pepper. Fruity but not fruit forward. Minimal tannins. Improved immensely over two hours.

October 23, 2020 - The most intense aroma I’ve smelled. Mature roses carry a few feet. Amazing rose and olive taste upfront. Higher acidity and no tannins at this point. On day 2, a very light leather belt and smoke taste developed as the final finishing notes. Wish I had more of this one of a kind wine.

March 6, 2020 - Fruit fading hard - but nothing special. At end of drinking window.

November 5, 2019 - - Brick color - Showing nicely right now. Probably near the end of its drinking window.

December 30, 2018 - It was pretty good, nothing spectacular. We have had much better from Failla. Still very tight, so perhaps we did it no justice with a 3-hour decant. This review is reading more negatively than my experience with the wine, so please take that into consideration.

December 27, 2017 - Very nice wine. Two hour decant. Medium purple. Narrow clear rim. Olive and black tea on the nose. Add to that some layered smoke and blackberries on the palate. Tannins fully resolved. Might have wished for a touch more acidity to balance out the sweetness. Medium finish. No heat. Neither French nor California in style. Can't tell if the 2010 is fading or whether it is simply losing its primary fruit characteristics. I have another bottle, and I will test it again later in the year.

November 3, 2015 - This is how I like my Syrah. Tons of olive, meat and dark fruit. Just love this profile. If scoring 93-95.

March 24, 2014 - Great Potential. Still too young, needs 2-3 years more bottle age to mellow the fruit and allow the secondary flavors to mature. Nice savory, bacon fat, slight mushroom. Still a bit of green. looking forward to 2016

January 5, 2014 - Jammy, over-extracted, and showing too much alcohol on the nose. Baked blueberry and plum notes in the mouth. Felt like something was a bit off with this from the the first taste. Perhaps it was left just a little too long on the vines.
