May 15, 2023 - An excellent wine, the Greer 2008 initially seemed a tiny bit blurry to me, but improved tremendously overnight in the recorked, mostly full bottle. Deeply colored, the wine showcases crème de cassis and red licorice, with barest hints of caramel. Ripe, slightly sweet, with firm but well-integrated acids, and a soft tannic structure. Fully mature now.

December 19, 2020 - At twelve years old, this beauty remains deep garnet in glass with no bricking. Foundation of dark fruit remains, with emerging black licorice, leather, and forest floor notes. Round and lush.

June 8, 2019 - Inky dark red. Smooth silky cassis and ripe plum notes. The tannins are fully integrated. A very fruit forward rather than brooding style. One of the better ‘08 California Cabs we’ve had. Good now.

February 12, 2019 - PnP-Tannins present. Slow Ox 4 hours and then recorked overnight. Nice full Bodied with lots of sweet blueberry fruit and mild but present tannins. This has plenty of life left. 95+

October 8, 2018 - Inky. Full bodied. Black cherry and black currant fruit. Some licorice and black olive notes on long sweet finish. Big, but well balanced. Easily the best 2008 Cali Cab we’ve had.

June 2, 2018 - Drinking it at peak, although it may have further positive development. Personally I wouldn’t wait. A bit of bitterness that fully resolved after a 1 hour decant. Super elegant and restrained, for Napa, I didn’t get a ton of the Rutherford dust, but instead a distinct floral note which really stood out from the typical cab flavors, which are there as well. Fruit is more in the red spectrum than black or purple. I don’t sense any manipulation in this wine, there is an overwhelming sense of purity. Sadly this is my last bottle, would love to have shared it with my wine snob friends as a shining example of what Cali can do.

April 20, 2018 - 2008 Napa Cab Retrospective (Fresno): One of my top wines for the night. Very smooth tannin, refined and elegant. At 10 yrs this is in a good place and will likely continue to drink well for another 5-10 years easy.

February 20, 2016 - Random Notes From a Saturday Night (Our House (2033 Brandywine St., Philadelphia)): Simply outstanding tonight. The bottle had been in a decanter for nearly 10 hours when we first tried it. Terrific balance. Red raspberry, chocolate and red currant. Smooth and dense but nothing is out of place. Nose is dynamic with spice and darker cherry. One nit is that it a touch syrupy on initial attack, but that subsides. The wine is in a perfect drinking spot right now. There is no real need to hold this although with the fine tannins still present, it should hold here for a good 10 years.

April 10, 2014 - Drank along side 2009 Corra and 2007 PM Les Pavots. Clear winner of the group.
