April 23, 2024 - Exploring Northern Rhone Syrah (Paris): half-bodied wine, a little floral on the nose but also marks of élevage with wood and vanilla. On the palate, also half-bodied, the wine lacks aromatic complexity, length or concentration. The tannins stick and dry out at the end. Disappointing

February 25, 2024 - Monthly Tasting Group: All the Rhones (A - Side Public House, St. Paul, MN): Small taste, this had some air, brief note - leafy, sauvage, dry earth, dry tannins, dark red fruits.

August 7, 2023 - Decanted a few hours which was not nearly enough. It was so closed and tight with hard tannins that it never really was an enjoyment. This on needed much longer in the cellar before ready. Sadly my last

June 6, 2023 - After about an hour of air, notes of meat and dark fruit popped. The palate is soft, tannins are barely noticeable, acidity is medium. Finishes shorter than I expected. Enjoyable but not mind blowing.

February 18, 2023 - Dark ruby with slight bricking. Aromas of black fruits, violets, smoked meats and spice. Medium-full bodied palate shows dense and savory macerated black fruits, graphite, good acidity and structured tannins on the finish.

July 29, 2022 - Finished the bottle from last note. I decided that northern Rhone reds will be my go to wine for steak. Just pairs beautifully. Great earthiness, almost comes off with a very slight bit of sweetness. This wine has many years ahead of it.

May 29, 2022 - Coravin’d half a bottle. Some funk, noticeable tartness. Blackberry, cherry. Moderate and soft tannins. Paired well with steak frites. Poured out 375 ml and then poured into decanter, and drank over the course of 45 min. Still feels youthful.

April 24, 2022 - Paired with NY strip steak, this was a real treat. Gave it 3 hours of air, which seemed about right. The nose has so much dark fruit; black berry, black currant, sour cherry and cedar. The palate very similar in fruit profile, very precise and great concentration. Subtle oak, minerals, medium body (for Syrah I would call it light) with fine silky tannins. My last two bottles of Syrah were from Australia and Cali Central Coast in comparable price range and this is so different and so much better! Drinking really well at the moment and given the great fruit in play here, I don’t think there is reason to believe this will decline any time soon. 92-93

December 27, 2021 - Really excellent at first with white parolee and bright acidity. Didn’t really open up from there and faded if anything. Fresh and attractive but complexity fades quickly
