January 10, 2016 - - Garnet color - Decanted half bottle and waited 3+ hours. Still smoky when first poured, but that lifted and became beautifully spicy yet soft and complex after about an hour in the glass.

January 8, 2016 - Needs time to open up. Very dusty and restrained. Started to open after a couple hours, but I didn't give it enough time.

August 8, 2014 - Nice light red. Fabulous herbaceous nose (A/A+). Gorgeous soft palate (A-). This reminded me why I love mature CdP, even from so-so vintages...!

March 8, 2014 - From a not so heralded vintage. Fully mature classic CDP nose displaying slightly dry red fruits, cherry and pomegranate, a hint of herbs de provence, leather, tobacco and tar. There is also anise and licorice note that seem to come from alcohol that shows at the end. Very good concentration, bright red fruit driven palate impression, bright acidity that some may find a bit overwhelming and fully integrated tannins. Perhaps due to the vintage, the fruit impression is not too sweet and although the nose is quite complex, it can be mostly attributed to the proper cellaring. I don’t think this would have been too impressive at its youth. This really calls for a hearty dish cassoulet or fatty game stew. A great example of how enjoyable a mature CDP from a mediocre vintage can be.

February 27, 2014 - 1981-1988 Vieux Telegraphe La Crau CdP Vertical (Tom's house in Palo Alto, California): Amazing, smooth nose which faded quickly with time in the glass (A). Gorgeous palate (B++).

May 18, 1990 - With Michael Lehmann at Singer & Foy vertical tasting of Vieux Telegraphe. Light medium ruby. Bright, crushed cherry fruit in the nose. Packs a wallop in the mouth. Very tannic, but with underlying black cherry fruit. Not flattering to taste now, but should be good later. 5-11-13-7: 86/100.
