March 17, 2024 - Drank over two days. This bottle pretty tired compared to the bottle I had almost a year ago. Sorta thin, faint petite-ness.
July 30, 2023 - 75th Birthday party. Ready to drink IMHO but till very dark in color and plenty of tannin.
May 15, 2023 - Still solid with nice dark color, rich dry fruit notes, and smoothness.
Bottle was well stored in an underground facility for 10 years. It came from there the day we opened. Decanted for 1.5 hours before 1st glass, 2 hours before second, vacuumed bottle and finished the next night.
We were trying to remember back to the prior bottle we drank 3 years ago, and our recollection is that this was similar to then but with a little more complexity and robustness.
I'd probably recommend drinking this now as I don't see this continuing to improve much more. And if storage is not ideal, it may be peaking.
This is our last bottle of this vintage and i wish we had another one to try in a year or so to see if I am right about drinking now ;)
March 26, 2023 - This was fresh and very lively, tasted young still. And it tasted like Lytton without trying to sound ridiculous. Deep purple in color, bright acid, restrained black and blue fruits, a hint of mineral. Slow ox for a few hours before getting into it seriously. It showed little development from initial taste to first glass hours later. That’s okay though as this was a pretty drink.
October 1, 2022 - Surprisingly fresh for a 12 year old wine. Big dark fruits and decent finish. I think it could roll on for another 10 years.
December 10, 2021 - 5.5 years later and we finally drank our last bottle. The overt rusticity was gone with resolved tannins and a fair bit of sediment. Full bodied, but not complex. The wine has resolved itself, but I don’t think this is getting better. Drink up.
June 29, 2021 - Decanted for about 30 minutes, some sediment in bottle. Dark black fruits, integrated tannins and acid. Great now, but still a big wine.
February 6, 2021 - Big wine ....will last
January 8, 2021 - With home-made sausage pizza.
Opaque ruby, deep to the rim.
Decanted 45 minutes before serving (thanks to CellarTracker notes).
Dark fruit (cherry, raspberry), spice. Balanced acidity, tannin, fruit. Stood up well against the heat of the sausage.
Unfortunately our last bottle of the vintage.
November 13, 2020 - Really very good. I agree with the review from BHRH, though I think it will likely drink well for another 10-15 years. Got better 2nd day open. Big bodied, but carries it in balance. Glad to have tried this wine, especially after visiting the vineyard and seeing the gnarly old vines.
