January 31, 2017 - Same as last month. A decent bottle of wine that is on the downswing of its life (not in a bad way, but just reaching the secondary/tertiary stages of its maturity). It didn't need decanting at all. PnP was perfect. The first hour or so was the best, with the final 3+ hours displaying a noticeable fade in the intensity.

My last bottle. Timing is about right for that. Drink up.

December 16, 2016 - Rich core of dark cherry fruit and spice on the nose and palate with silky texture and a moderate finish with refreshing acidity & tannins.
    Classic KB!

December 11, 2016 - Same as my notes from July, except that I knocked this down a point, as it seemed to fade fairly rapidly after a few hours of air. I would not recommend decanting. Enjoy sooner than later; I feel that this is on the steady decline. Still a very nice bottle of wine, but was actually overshadowed by a 2011 KB Gap's Crown that was tasted side-by-side. The 2011 had a lot more energy and push than the 2010. More plum and a little darker black cherry notes in the 2010, but the 2011 had more drive and complexity, holding my interest a bit more.

The 2010 and 2011 were both very satisfying. The 2011 is just coming into its glide now, whereas the 2010 is nearing retirement (for my palate at least). 93-94- points. Drink over the year or so.

October 21, 2016 - Restrained for KB. A bit tart - sour cherries, hints of black pepper, touch of heat on finish.
