July 2, 2017 - Opened to follow a Clos du Bois Marlstone. Did not work. In comparison, Ridgeline was lightweight, overly bright and disjointed. Cocoa on the nose mixed poorly with sour cherry palate and sharp acidity. Have enjoyed other bottles more and not sure if this is bottle variation or just a poor score in side-by-side comparison. Probably a bit of both.

November 20, 2015 - Lovely cab nose. Took time to open up. Still has nice fruit. Went well with grilled pork chop as well as a chicken with chimichurri sauce. Will last a few more years.

December 14, 2013 - Tried it in two glasses. one a large cabernet glass - the obvious choice and one a large bowl oaked chardonney glass. Why? Because i poured it into the Cab glass first and tasted it and it was delicious! Then my wife tried it and said YUM and took it! Well the big bowl oak chardonney was handy so i used it. WOW what a mistake!! what smelled wonderful in the Cab glass now smelled Dusty (and no the glass wasnt dirty...) So yes, i have confirmed that all the nonsense about using the proper glass for the wine isn't just a way to get you to buy more stemware (although i will have to now) but you do in fact not do a wine justice if served in the wrong vessel.
OK, enough of that silliness
A nose that is a bit sweet, rich and filled with juicy black cherries. The cherries fill your mouth and the texture is smooth with subtle tannins. There is no harshness. The alcohol doesn't get in the way and there is no chalkiness in your mouth as the tannins mix with your saliva. Obviously with the deep color and richness of cherry, there is an initial jamminess, but it is short lived. I found some chocolate richness as time went by. The wine didn't linger on the back of the throat and the remnants in the mouth were pleasing and left you realizing this is a very drinkable and enjoyable wine. We had it with a homemade red sauce and it complemented it perfectly. I give it an 89 only because it needs a few more bits of complexity to take it to the 90+ level.1 person found this helpful Comment
