November 18, 2021 - From magnums. Medium garnet. Blend of 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot, 15% Petit Verdot and 5% Cabernet Franc. Decanted for 2 hours. Aromatic nose of plums, strawberries, leather, wet earth, spices. Balanced, medium acidity, some tannins still pesent. Nice mature margaux.

July 10, 2020 - With the beef course of our niche niche takeout dinner. Cork was funky as hell, a little trouble getting it out. But it’s fine. Barbecue, fresh pleather on the nose. Menthol, tar, tobacco, not a lot of fruit maybe stewed cherries but hardly. Balanced long finish, nice acidity. Awesome value, this is a solid very mature Margaux.

July 14, 2019 - Second Sunday Group: 1989 Bordeaux (MiY's): Double blind. Earthy dark fruit with hints of brett and iodine underneath. The palate shows plum, dark fruit and tobacco, with just a slightly austere quality on the finish. Fills in nicely as it sits, improving whereas others seemed to shut down; this wine jumped up a good bit in my rankings. Tannins are present- slightly chewy. Nicely ripened red berry fruit along with loads of tobacco, cigar box, warm spice and earth. Finishes with good length; balanced.

February 27, 2015 - cork 90% saturated, but extracted cleanly. Decanted for 20 minutes. Poured and slowly drunk over 2 hours. Purple-tinged crimson with ever so slight bricking. Nose of bittersweet chocolate, plums and blackberries. Some wet leather and sawn wood. Blackberries and raspberries at entry followed by fresh plums and some hints of chocolate. Fairly long finish that's a touch too tangy. Overall an excellent bottle of wine, especially for the price.

November 9, 2014 - We used a slow oxygenation over about 6 hours before serving to wake up this bag boy from magnum. The rim is all red brick, but the core and most of the glass is plum. The nos is a potpourri of what Bordeaux does best: plum, black currants, cassis, graphite, cedar and tobo. The palate profile mimics the nose to a tee. The mouthfeel is lighter than a anticipated on the first pour, showing a medium-leaning-light mouthfeel. However, over the course of the evening, the mouthfeel plumped up, eventually showing a fairly big wine. Well balanced with just about everything in place. Once fully awake, the wine is youthful, but with resolved tannins. Drink now or hold .... this has miles ahead of it. This was the WOTN for most everyone. Some heavy sediment in the bottom of the bottle and some shadow of sediment on the shoulder. 12% alc. With quail stuffed ravioli (pasta) in a red wine and prune sauce (3rd course) followed by venison (4th course). For DDB’s birthday with Butch and Lynne Smiley, Doug and Marnie Sheets, Karen Frank and Leslie and Ian Boden. Recommended, but leaning toward Highly Recommended.
