January 1, 2024 - this still surprisingly youthful and the fruit quite fresh yet just developing some secondary flavors... would not have guessed this is 12 years old by any stretch

August 20, 2023 - Age is definitely a Kutch's friend, but this one may have been badly stored or just an off bottle: a bit tart and disjointed, some stewed notes on the finish. I generally quite like the McDougall Ranch bottlings but I think I'd forgotten how dark and burly they can be - I was expecting something a bit more like the Sonoma and that may have colored my view. Still, I'll look to open my other 2011's sooner rather than later.

July 14, 2023 - Jamie Kutch did it again Another wine upon release that was OK in my book and lacked a little ripe fruit and was mostly tart fruit, but 10 years later, “HOLY COW!” Cherries here and cherries there. Did I add I really tasted Cherries? What phenomenal development. It even got better the next day which is a sign there’s more age ability in this wine. Congratulations Jamie.

April 19, 2022 - Paired beautifully with a pork tenderloin in a Door County cherry marinade. Loads of red fruit and a touch of brown sugar. Medium finish with a bit of grit still present in the tannins. It’s been open three plus hours and is still singing. I suggested to my wife that we should drink up as I thought this might diminish quickly, but it’s still kicking. 92+

April 19, 2021 - Bottle was flawed or I just really do not like Pinot Noir. One sip taken and will hold for day two.

November 4, 2020 - More fruits in it than I expected. A nice, deeper flavored Pinot.

July 26, 2020 - Opened this for a virtual tasting with Jamie Kutch and Frank Murray of the 4 2018 offerings to be released next week. Of the 52 participating, I noticed several others on line who had selected this wine to taste and enjoy during the muted Zoom presentation. Floral bouquet on the nose; tart cherry/pomegranate on the palate; spice and mild tannins on the finish. This wine opened up nicely about 20 minutes after opening.

April 17, 2020 - This wine has really developed over time and changed significantly from release. Light in color and smooth as silk, this wine has nicely developed red fruit and gives me the impression of being very juicy and mouthwatering (but not from acidity). Just extremely pleasant to drink.

January 8, 2020 - Time has been good to this wine. PnP. Very aromatic tart cherry, spice and some stems. Flavors of cherry, spice, some earthiness, and vanilla showing up in the finish. Medium bodied. the tannins are soft. Showing really well now.
