October 5, 2019 - shared with pat at selkirk manor. this bottle was lost in the cellar until visual inspection spotted it in the rack. last tasted 6/2016. the wine has held up remarkably well. still fresh and lively. i have never had a bad experience with a catena wine. i love everything that catena does. finding a chardonnay that is still enjoyable eight years after the vintage is additionally remarkable. current impressions similar to previous notes. a bit shy at first. more interesting as it moves from fridge temperature closer to room temperature. Perhaps not as complex as the first bottle enjoyed in 2013. But still has elements of oak, vanilla, cream, caramel, poached pear and lemon. Light and refreshing when cold. More cerebral as it warms up. this was my last bottle from this vintage. did not buy enough. glad that i have more recent vintages waiting for me in the cellar.

June 12, 2016 - shared with pat, eileen and lucio at selkirk manor. accepting baby shower gift. expiring "drink latest" and a series of uncomplimentary notes prompted opening this bottle. worries proved to be unfounded, at least for this bottle. i love everything that catena does. finding a chardonay that is still enjoyable five years after the vintage is additionally remarkable. current impressions similar to previous notes. a bit shy at first. more interesting as it moves from fridge temperature closer to room temperature. Perhaps not as complex as the first bottle enjoyed in 2013. But still has elements of oak, vanilla, cream, caramel, poached pear and lemon. Light and refreshing when cold. More cerebral as it warms up. this was the last of this vintage. did not buy enough. will look to purchase current vintage.

April 26, 2015 - A bold nose of citrus and spice, golden yellow in color. A full bodied complex Chard, with honey, apple, peach, buttered popcorn, with a long acidic spice finish. www.winelx.com
