August 31, 2023 - Red with with not much age showing at the meniscus. Looks like a 4-8 year old wine.

On pop and pour to 1 hour. No decant.: On the nose plum black and red berries cocoa coffee. All follow in the mouth. med body (chalky) and finish. med tannin. med+ acidity. decent acid fruit balance.

August 26, 2022 - Not entirely sure what to make of this. Fruit definitely still there. As was acid. This might improve with more time and more integration.

November 24, 2019 - Schöner Fruchtdruck, tolle Säurestruktur. Trotzdem etwas „gemachter“ Eindruck, der Wein ist uweifelsohne gut aber doch etwas langweilig.

December 28, 2017 - Dark, full bodied, oaky, black and red fruits, tannins seemed a bit rough. It seemed heavy handed to me. But it went well with a meaty pizza. Still some left, so perhaps a follow-up.

    September 15, 2016 - A blend of Merlot (75%) and Sangiovese (25%).

Moderately translucent black cherry color with a slightly developed maroon hue. Somewhat developed but also very ripe, complex and modern nose with aromas of ripe plummy fruit, mulberry, allspice, some blackberry marmalade, a little bit of sweet, toasty oak and a hint of licorice. The wine is ripe, full-bodied and quite powerful on the palate with rather sweet-toned flavors of dark plummy fruit and wizened dark berries, licorice, some Maraschino cherries, a little bit of sweet, toasty oak spice, light strawberry tones, a hint of tart cranberries and an oaky touch of extracted woody bitterness. The wine is moderately high in acidity with quite ripe medium tannins - they lend some balance to the wine but the overall impression is rather soft and mellow. The finish is long, somewhat warm and quite oaky with rich and pretty complex flavors of sweet-toned dark fruits, toasty oak spice, some wizened black cherries, a little bit of cocoa, light tannic bitterness and a hint of tart cranberry.

A rather rich, soft and modern Super-Tuscan with a lot of ripe fruit and toasty oak but not really enough structure to make the wine carry itself with grace. The wine might gain some finesse and poise if it loses its baby fat with age and the oak integrates better with the fruit, but it might take quite many more years. Overall the wine is relatively sweet and soft for one from the great 2010 vintage. Not really my cup of tea - if I'm looking for a good Tuscan red, I'd go for old-school Sangiovese instead of these modern Super-Tuscan wines.

    May 18, 2016 - A blend of Merlot (75%) and Sangiovese (25%).

Almost completely opaque black-red color. Rich, sweet and quite modern, even almost inky nose with aromas of very ripe red forest berries, dark plums, sweet oak and dusty chocolate. Rich, full-bodied and very ripe, almost sweet on the palate with rather modest acidity, giving the wine rather soft mouthfeel. Opulent flavors of dark plums, boysenberries, ripe red berries, some chocolate oak and a hint of toffee. The tannins are moderate, ripe and gentle, giving the wine very smooth and silky mouthfeel. The finish is long and a bit warm with flavors of dark forest berries, juicy dark plums, ripe raspberries, some chocolate oak and a hint of spicy bitterness.

A very modern, polished and quite oak-heavy Tuscan red that feels quite clunky with its excessive oak and ripeness. Not really my thing. Although the wine might gain more finesse and lose some of its oak with cellaring, I doubt it'll never be a wine to win me over. Not worth its price at 34,90€.

April 23, 2016 - Zu Beginn schokoladig, süssfruchtig... Mit etwas Luft zunehmend langweilig, breit, fad, ohne Charakter, fehlendes Säurerückgrat, es fehlt an Spannung... Gäääääähn....

December 19, 2015 - Despite having uncorked the bottle 4h+ before dinner, this didn't show well. Too oaky and unidimensional for my taste. Not bad, but not really a bottle that would make you dream. Definitely better to pair with food. (85)

Much much better on the next night. The oak was finally integrated and the last two glasses were very enjoyable. Let it rest for 2 years or more. (88+)
