October 19, 2016 - Another home run! Dark red full body wine with excellent nose. Blackberry and cherry fruit filled your mouth. Nice finish. This wine will only get better over the next few years.

March 30, 2016 - PnP, sampled, decanted for 2 hours prior to drinking. Definitely improved with decant!
Somewhat different from the 2009. This had more structure & malbec character. I preferred the 2009.
Very aromatic -- draws you in (although the taste is a step down from this lure!)
Luscious, full bodied merlot, juicy!, dried fruit, spice, tar, earth, bramble, with robust mouthfeel. Firm yet somewhat silky tannins.

    Drank for wife's birthday.

December 24, 2015 - Decanted 2+ hours and served with beef stew & polenta main dish. Drinking very well now. On the nose, powerful fruit (more dark than red, currants) with an earthy undertone. Similar on the palate, with a wow factor, with its structure and medium-full body. Good value for a higher-end merlot and even relative to what else $60 could get you in Ohio.

December 24, 2015 - Decanted for three hours before service. In the glass, inky indigo. On the nose, forest, plums, and currants. On the palate, blue fruits, plums, and earthy notes in the background, with an assertive tannic finish. This clearly needs more time in the cellar, perhaps 3-5 years to begin to wake up.

    October 23, 2015 - Decanted 1.5 hours.
Nose of strawberry and blackberry compote. Spices

Medium, chewy tannins on the mid palate.

Tastes of pine needles, red and black cherries. Bittersweet baking chocolate.

Has quite a long life ahead of it.

August 1, 2015 - Thanks to Coravin, I opened the 2010 merlot about 6 months ago for a couple of glasses, and decided to leave the rest for later. Glad I did: wow, with just another 6 months bottle age, my previous impression changed dramatically... no astringency this time around, very nice aromas of dark fruit in a deep forest after a rain, integrated / structured tannins, lingering and mouthwatering long finish. A very nice bold wine that for me is just now starting to come into maturity.

April 29, 2015 - this is a really good merlot. I was surprised and very pleased. Had with a Filet Mignon in Myrtle Beach, no decanting. color is dark plum. The nose is dark berry and earthy. dark cherry and berries are notable and the texture and feel in the mouth is very rich and thick. It is very well integrated and balanced, which is what I like most. it is a very 'front of the palate experience, but it lasts for a long time. I really enjoyed this.

January 28, 2015 - Decanted for an hour or so. Deep, inky purple color with aromas of plum, blue fruit, chocolate and black raspberry. Full-bodied with fine, sweet tannins and flavors of cherry, chocolate, plums and black fruit. Vanilla and oak spice on the finish. The last few drops in the glass show a lovely perfume of violets and incense.

A much better showing than the last bottle, but still much too young and primary- though that is what Domino wanted to drink tonight, so it fit the bill perfectly. That said, I would hold this until 2020 before opening another.
