This had lots of the classic wet wool, straw, quince and pear notes of an aged chenin, with a lovely glycerine streak and slight creaminess through the palate. Lots of acidity in play, and this is still on the young side. Very enjoyable, though unfortunately my last one (A-).

November 11, 2007 - Initially the musky, wet wool, bouquet was a little unpleasant but the wine rapidly settled down and became extremely drinkable (drunk with a white fish pie). Nice minerality, a pleasant alternative to Sancerre or a kiwi Sav B.

December 29, 2006 - Hazy note. Lovely nose, with straw, quince, oxidation and rotten bananas. A fair bit of oxidation on the palate, more than the first bottle - Savennieres can be a crap shoot for oxidation. Still, it improved on the second night, and had a lovely clarity and precision to it: a slightly oily texture, more quince, pears, lime and other citrus notes. Those with less tolerance for oxidation would probably have scored this lower.
