March 8, 2021 - 88 Our last of 6 bottles that we have been drinking over 5 years. This is a nice Tuscan wine from the town of Scansano. This Sangiovese based wine is full body with a ripe brambly black and blue fruit. Has an old world component to the flavor with tastes of pencil lead, leather and black ink well. This '09 still has firm tannins. Overall, a good Tuscan wine that went excellent with spaghetti and Anita's red sauce. This wine needs food.

August 5, 2020 - This bottle was good, just seemed a little off compared to the previous bottle, so we won't get into a lot of details or give it a rating. It was still good with the grilled pork chops and everyone enjoyed it.

July 6, 2020 - Poignant plum and cherry, some old-fashioned country soda aromas. Certainly some oak presence as well. In some ways it feels very Sangiovese with good acidity and cherry core. On the other hand, it kind of feels like another Italian varietal- maybe Sangrantino or Negroamaro. Bright and dry, though it did take a while to open up.

April 30, 2020 - Second time I rate it. Deep ruby Color. This time i decanted for a couple of minutes after taking it out of the wine fridge at 13c. Nose opens with immediate blackberries and other black fruits together with smoke, pepper and cream - pronounced. Med acidity, Med+ body, Med tannins, Med alcohol, pronounced flavor intensity and Med+ finish. Great structure, fine tannins, still tastes young and vibrant but very enjoyable. This went perfectly with our ottolenghi dish with orzo. It will be difficult to stay off the remaining 3 bottles. Definitely great value for money.

March 22, 2020 - High acidity - lots of black fruit - needs decanting time - enjoyable now after decanting but can keep for some more years

October 12, 2019 - I would have guessed that this is a California wine. It needs at least 90 minutes of airing.
PRO: big, concentrated, fruity and easy to appreciate. Goes well with Cheese Burger, Pizza and even BBQ.
CON: raisiny, lack aciding and not refreshing.

February 6, 2019 - About 2 years from our last review of this wine. This red sauce hungry wine is really coming together now with balanced and integrated flavors of dusty red fruit, cedar and oak, oyster mushrooms, a bit of pipe tobacco and a sprinkling of black pepper. A short grippy tannic finish. Has at least 10 more good years to go.

June 8, 2018 - Modern sangiovese. Smooth, balanced, dried fruits spice, tobacco, leather. Paired well with lasagna.
