April 27, 2024 - Very balanced. Brown in the background (some would say bacon). A bit metallic/clean in the nose/blueberries. Fruity - blackberries. Really nice a repurchase.

Food: grilled lamb with wild garlic - match!

April 12, 2024 - Lovely smokey bacon and black fruit nose. The palate was still a bit tight but it smells just lovely.
I purchased this so late in the sales cycle that I could purchase only half bottles but I don’t think I did badly purchasing the case of 12 half bottles.
Guigal knows something about bottling half bottles so they can keep as well as larger formats. The cork appeared to be practically fresh.
I think this has a long life ahead of it and will continue to approve.

February 26, 2024 - Coravin. Medium-deep ruby; medium intensity aromatics, black fruited, bacon smoke, meaty BBQ; palate is medium bodied, excellent elegant acidity throughout, medium alcohol (13% on the bottle, probably a little more but well balanced), lovely blend of primary black fruit with some minerality; finish is medium-long. This is a very nice Northern Rhone syrah with plenty of typicity and drinking at early maturity. Lovely wine. 92+

February 12, 2024 - Better than the bottle I had two years ago. Opened for two hours prior to dinner. Fruit and hints of spice on the nose. The palate was berry, dark cherry, red plums and some Christmas spices. Finish was moderate to long.

February 7, 2024 - Brick-red rim, opaque core; secondary notes, black olives, whiff of violets, understated; cool fruit, gruff mid-palate, then subtle spiciness; attractive finish, decent length. Just hoped a little more of everything.

February 4, 2024 - Racy and mineral in a play of leather, red fruit and the hint of violet and steel. Gone are the harsh tannins, the mouth feel is medium and the finish soft. Something perhaps sour at first, the wine opened after an hour.

Elk tenderloin, celeriac mash, broccoli rab and a Maine blueberry cognac sauce with a touch of mustard.

    Fine night

January 6, 2024 - Very nice. One hour decant. Initially a bit reserved, very pleasant bouquet of leather, red fruits and hints of smoked meat. Medium bodied and quite silky on the palate. Racy red and black fruits framed with a mineral undertone and well resolved tannins. Put on weight with air and this was singing after a couple of hours.

January 1, 2024 - In a great place. Took a long time to open. I’d give this a 91 on day one but 94 on day two (drank out of a mag).
